Help Desk: What's the difference between the various blade types?

Here follow the various blade description. If you click on the blade name, you'll see a SKM product page with a photo of a knife that has that kind of blade.

Italian Stiletto

• Polished Standard: Highly reflective mirror-like finish. This blade is used to cut and it's not razor edge. This is the most common type of blade.
• Polished Bayonet: Highly reflective mirror-like finish. This is blade to point, bite, fight, ...
• Polished Kris: This is a blade to collect. An injury of a kris blade cicatrises with more difficulty. It's shape resembles a snake.
• Damascus: Damascus steel is formed with hundreds of layers of iron and steel that are forged together to produce a high carbon blade with distinctively individual patterns. The art of damascus steel making goes back thousands of years, and no one is certain of it's origin.

Front Opening

• Satin Finished Serrated Edge: The stainless steel has a brushed effect, producing a finish between Polished and Sand Blasted. This blade has a greater cutting capability on the serrated edge.
• Engraved: This blade has a pattern engraved on the surface.
• Polished: Highly reflective mirror-like finish.

Butterfly
